We would love to hear your story. Send us a note in comments, and we will reach out about the best way to send one in.
Here are some more details about what we are looking for:
Advice Article Guidelines: When sharing advice on navigating grief, we urge you to tread lightly and with sensitivity, as each journey through loss is deeply personal. Offer guidance that is inclusive and acknowledges the wide spectrum of grieving processes, always underpinning your suggestions with empathy and respect for individual experiences. Our goal is to provide a supportive space where constructive, gentle advice helps guide readers through their unique paths of mourning and healing.
Memoir Guidelines: We seek memoir essays that revolve around a transformative moment of grief—events that shifted your perspective or being. Narratives should be complete, self-contained stories that resonate as deeply as a book, without being a mere segment of a larger piece.
Essay Guidelines: An essay captures an instant or experience that remains dynamic, perhaps unresolved, or is a concept you’re actively wrestling with. It’s the present contemplation, the living pulse of your journey through grief.
Opinions and Perspective Guidelines: We welcome a broad range of stories that defy straightforward categorization. These pieces should offer insight and depth, without tipping into polemic.
Humor in Grief: Laughter can be a balm for the soul, and we encourage lighthearted submissions that find humor amidst sorrow. Witty reflections on life’s darker moments are a cherished part of our collection.
Crafting Your Submission: A compelling essay, whether rooted in personal experience or a broader context, should strike a chord of universality. Authenticity is key. We’re looking for heartfelt narratives that delve into the nuances of loss, regardless of its form. Stir us to laughter, tears, or contemplation with your words and imagery.
We invite an array of grief tales—covering all spectrums of loss or life transitions. Reviews and recommendations of media that relate to your journey of grief are also welcome.
Submission Guidelines:
- Aim for a reading time of 4–10 minutes. Exceptions can be made, but this is your sweet spot for acceptance.
- Original, non-AI content only.
- Content must thematically touch upon grief or loss.
- One header image with proper attribution and ALT text is preferred. Original visuals are highly regarded.
- Forego excessive formatting; italics should be used sparingly.
- Essays should stand independently. If you reference past work, embed a hyperlink organically within your text.
- Submissions agree to light editing for errors. If more extensive edits are needed, we’ll provide feedback for revisions.
Exclusivity and Originality: We only accept non-published, nonfiction narratives. By sharing your story with us, you acknowledge the exclusivity of your submission to our platform while retaining the freedom to share your experiences in different formats elsewhere.
Post-Submission Process: Once approved, expect your story to be published within a 15-30 day timeframe. Accepted writers can submit new stories once per week.
